Registred Psychologist

Counselling is a journey of awareness, reflection and growth, but it is one that you do not have to take alone. As a psychologist, I believe in the power of presence. Our ability and willingness to be with another human being in their strengths and struggles is one of the most powerful gifts we can give.

Approach

Chantal has been working with the Fort McMurray Catholic School Board for 3 years. In this role her primary focus is family counselling, with a mix of school counselling at the elementary level.

Her core foundation starts with attachment based and trauma-informed psychotherapy. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is one of the most powerful elements of counselling. As human beings we are all born with an innate need to connect and this is a key foundation of her work.

She works from the perspective of seeing clients for all their strengths and struggles, and appreciating and accepting both. Her focus starts with the client’s internal working model and helps to shift this model into a more compassionate and self loving state to allow clients to find  adaptive and safe ways to connect with others and the world around them. This is done through modalities such as  Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, and  Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
